January 6-9, 2011 Ear Reconstructions In Choluteca

When we arrived at the hospital this fine group of patients were waiting for us.  All of these are former patients who have returned for more surgery.

We remember when she was just a little girl and now she is all grown up!  This time they put her in the women's post surgery room and not in the children's post surgery room.  I think I am getting old!

Dr. John has two beautiful girls who join him on the trips.... Gabby on the left and Genevieve on the right... Genevieve goes to University in Washington DC and plans to be a doctor like dad.... Gabby is still deciding...

Before photos... you will see after photos in 6 or 8 months when Dr. John comes again...
Dr. John basically camps out at the hospital for 3 days... He performs surgery after surgery after surgery....

Yes, his ear is a little low, but it was low to start with and Dr. John is still in the process.... Sometimes it is scary to look at the in between photos... But the end result is always well worth the surgeries and the long wait...

This is one of our favorite patients... she might as well go to medical school and become part of the team... she is always cheerfully teaching the "newbies" what they need to do...  She has had either 6 or 7 surgeries and now Dr. john is just "tweaking" to get a best possible final result.

Isn't he a handsome young man?  He started out with no ear, and look where he is now... I am so thankful that God is using me to help others... I am really happy to be doing what I do... except for the paperwork... Ugh!

All the patients had surgery and all had their morning checkup and now they are all ready to go home... to wait until the next time...
