September 25, 2010 Juticalpa Wheelchair Giveaway

Ignore the dates on the bottom of the photos.  Someone and not me, didn't set the proper date on their camera...

Dear God, PLEASE send me a new camera...

Today we gave away a bunch of wheelchairs in Juticalpa! Luis Berrios who is the cousin of my best friend, Sonia Segovia of Choluteca...  Thus she asked me if I could help him meet the needs of some people in Juticalpa who were desperate for wheelchairs. Luis Berrios Sergovia is standing in the center of the above photo.

This baby was NOT happy with her new wheelchair... But who cares, mom was happy!

September 19, 2010 Levita's Birthday

Today is Levita's Birthday.  He is one of the lucky ones.  He has reached another Birthday.  Levita is a retired member of the 18th Street Gang.  He gave his life to Jesus and has become a street minister.  I made him a chocolate cake.

His son was more excited about the cake than he was...

One of the guests made sure that his face was covered with cake!
And no it was not me!
It is so wonderful to see him experiencing the "good life" after having walked in the 18th Street Gang life.

September 16, 2010 Eye Brigade Zuniga Arriba, Moracoupi, Valle

All of these happy faces are some of the patients we were able to perform eye exams on today.  This rural village mustered up about 70 adults and a few hundred kids for today's Eye Brigade and Toy Giveaway.  The gasoline for today's trip was sponsored by Jack DeLoss Taylor Trust.  Zoe Clinic in Tegucigalpa sent their medical personnel to help us and Unite For Sight volunteers, visiting Honduras for a month, also helped.

One of the blond headed volunteers from Unite For Sight checking to see if this lady can read with her new reading glasses.  Everyone loved the blond hair and blue eyes.

September 16, 2010 Happy Faces At A Toy Giveaway In Zuniga Arriba, Valle

Today was a wonderful day filled with lots of hot, hard work but I had a great time giving away toys sent to my by Halo of Hope Ministry directed by Dale and Gloria Leiniger.

Thank you to Jack DeLoss Taylor Trust for their help in paying for the gasoline to get to this remote village.  This pueblo is 2 hours on a bumpy, hole filled asphalt road then another hour and 15 minutes on a dirt road.  We took an eye team with us and were able to examine about 70 people and found several with cataracts who will receive surgery next week.
